The statistics are shocking. A 2019 study showed that 1 in 5 adults struggles with their mental health, and that statistic doesn’t evade the church. If you’re a part of a church and in a room with 50 people, statistically, 10 of those people are struggling, whether it be the pastor, church leader, or lay member.

Research shows that 31% of pastors admit to struggling with their emotional well-being, 26% admit to struggling with their relational well-being, and 64% say they are “somewhat” equipped to help their congregation’s mental health.

Due to COVID in 2020, many churches had to suspend in-person services and find a new normal to form connections among their churches. However, with the decrease in physically gathering, depression and isolation were at an all-time high. There have been more and more pastors losing their life to a mental health struggle at alarming rates. Mental health is essential. Mental health as a ministry is vital.

ChurchCommunications.com is opening registration for a free virtual mental health summit, the Thrive & Cultivate virtual summit, for church leaders being held May 21–22, 2021. The online event aims to increase awareness and education about mental health concerns in the personal lives of leaders and the increasingly felt need found across communities during this pandemic period.

Thrive & Cultivate is designed for ministry leaders who align with these statistics to bring them a new perspective, support, and new strategy to implement in their life, ministry, and community. During this two-day summit, leaders will hear from over thirty speakers that are qualified mental health professionals, church leaders, and non-clinical professionals such as:

  • Jon Acuff
  • Dr. Crystal Collier
  • Carey Nieuwhof
  • Carlos Whittaker
  • William Vanderbloemen
  • and 25+ other speakers

It’s time to raise awareness about mental health in the church. Mark your calendars for May 21st and join us in declaring it Church Mental Health Day. And, if you’re a church leader, sign up for the Thrive and Cultivate virtual summit.

You matter, your mental health matter, the mental health of the congregation members matter. So why not take the time to equip yourself with knowledge and resources?
